Raine Emulator

The Raine emulator plays Taito arcade games, like Operation Wolf, Operation Thunderbolt, Bubble Bobble, Ninja Warriors, and other Taito arcade games from 1986 to the early 1990s. You can use the Mame emulator to run games, like Operation Wolf, Ninja Warriors, Space Gun, and others, but you can’t set the difficulty settings and cheat modes. The Raine32 emulator enables you to change the settings like if you can continue, set the amount of health for the players, change the difficulty settings while the Mame emulator doesn’t give you any of those options.

Taito made a lot of great games in the mid 1980s to the early 1990s. Games, like Operation Wolf were in almost every arcade, and it had a Uzi submachine gun as the light gun that would recoil as you shot it. I spent a lot of time playing with this game when I was a kid. They also came out with Ninja Warrior in 1987 which was really ahead of its time. It had three screens, and the graphics for the game was really out of this world at the time. Even today, it looks very good for a 16 bit game, you couldn’t make it better than what it was. Ninja Warrior cost 50 cents to play it back in 1987, and that was a lot of money back then. A lunch cost 50 cents at school, and gasoline was about 90 cents a gallon. In addition, it was a very difficult game, so you can image how many quarters you can spend on it!

I did notice one thing, the game difficulty for a game such as Operation Wolf was different for every arcade. Now, I figured out why, using the Raine32 emulator gave me that idea. The arcade I went to was set at the most difficult settings, and that one was in the mall. The went to every weekend was called Space Station. Back in the 1980s, kids used to go to the arcade every Saturday in the mall, and we also watched Saturday morning cartoons. Being able to play these games brings back a lot of memories for me. It is a reminder of a bygone age where we didn’t have the internet, life was simpler, and it was a transition from the analog age to the digital age.
